She left the door a jar with loud music in the house. So upon returning, the grandma called out on the babysitter and her granddaughter but there was no response. She told her neighbors who also joined in the search thinking that she was in the neighborhood but she was nowhere to be found. It was at this point that the police was alerted and the search continued. Make a Child Smile was also informed and together with our partners, we were able to trace the suspect's phone which led to her arrest in Kayunga were she had taken the child. She later confessed that she was married to one Alhaji and had lied to him that she was pregnant and wanted to be away from her marital home. That was how she landed in Kasangati as a babysitter and was waiting for the right time take the baby and present her to him as their own. She was taken to court and was given a 7 year sentence. Israt is doing well and happily living together with her grandma in one single room in Wampeewo.
